My handle is codejockey. In the meantime why not have a root beer and a bratwurst, and check out the link below to get your own 20MB of free webspace?
I got here on May 24, 1999
I will be starting work shortly.

This page will be a project in programming online java applications.
My name is a joke, since I'm anything but a "code jockey". I'm a beginner, just learning to
program in various languages. Right now I'm learning java for the Mac. I also intend to
learn to use the Code Warrior Pro program to program in c++.
I will also be learning Visual Basic and J++ in the Microsoft Visual Studio.
These pages will document a project (or two) which are part of the process. You will see the project in whatever its current state is.
Well then, what's the project?
It's going to be an interactive online baseball game. You will be able to manage your team against the computer's.
In the first functional state, I will have created some allstar teams of different eras. Eventually, I would like it to give you the ability to create your own team, with names, positions, batting orders, and abilities of the players.
That's going to be a long time from now. I'm starting from square one, learning the basics of java. For you real programmers, I'm just at the
"Hello World" novice stage (all the real programmers are rolling their eyes and moving on to another page right now), and for now, that's what you're going to see.
So, step one will be to get a "Hello World" app up and running here.
This is going to be a long process, maybe even a year, but I think it will be fun. And if you're a fellow beginner
maybe there will be something helpful here. All source code will be made available. If you see something you're interested in, you'll be able to download the code.
Well, as Gilda Radner used to say, "Never Mind!"
The fortunecity server can't handle files with uppercase letters.
In java, the convention is that names are compound and meaningful, starting with a lowercase letter, but with successive units capitalized. This means that all the names of the necessary java libraries will contain capital letters. Which means that fortunecity is java-hostile.
Which means that I'll have to do the project somewhere else.
I guess the good news is that the first step, the "Hello World" app, worked just fine when I ran it in a Netscape browser. Also, I coded and successfully compiled the class definition for "Players," so I have the first component ready and working.
So, when I find an adequate server/host, it looks like the project will indeed happen.
Meanwhile, I'll think of something to do here. Much less content, unfortunately, but something. But it won't be much of a priority.
